Cardiology

As with all animals, your pet’s heart is its most vital organ and so requires the greatest care, especially as your pet gets older. There are a number of issues and symptoms which can affect your pet, such as:

  • Heart murmurs
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Lack of ability to exercise
  • Fainting
  • Congenital heart conditions (especially for certain pure-bred dogs)
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Dilated heart disease

Cardiology Treatment for Your Pet

We have fully equipped diagnostic centres at our animal hospitals which allow us to perform a number of tests, such as echocardiography, arrythmia monitoring and blood tests, to identify the cause of your pet’s cardiac problems. From there we can prescribe a course of medicinal treatments and monitoring, or perform surgery if the situation is serious enough. Pet cardiac surgery includes the addition of pacemakers to regularise heartbeats, drainage of fluids that may be putting pressure on the heart and the treatment of common congenital diseases.

Rest assured that even though cardiac surgery is a serious undertaking, our specialist vets and state-of-the-art facilities create an excellent environment for successful operations, bringing better quality of life to your pet.
