Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat Prescriptions
At Highfield Veterinary Clinics we try to ensure that every pet gets whatever they need to stay happy and healthy. This includes providing a full prescription service for any medicine, treatment or specialist food your pet has been prescribed. While many of the most commonly used medicines and treatments are held in stock, it may take a few days for others to be ordered in.
Reasons why your pet needs repeat prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be requested if your animal is on file with us as our vets can only prescribe prescription-only medications for pets that are under their care. For repeat prescriptions it is necessary for the pet in question to get checked by the vet every three to six months, to ensure the treatment route being taken is still appropriate. Repeat prescription requests can be made over the phone and you will be advised of when your pet’s prescription will be ready for collection from the Highfield Veterinary Clinic closest to you.
How a regular health check works
A regular routine pet health check-up can help to identify many conditions before they become more serious and ensure your pet is not silently living with discomfort. A routine pet health check will take up to 15 minutes and our vets will assess your pets health status for the above issues and identify if there is any need for follow-up action.
A veterinary health check also allows us to set a baseline from which future changes in your pet’s condition can be monitored, so having a history of health checks makes it easier to catch changes and potential future problems.
